The Cafe on Crystal Street You can't help but see a sunset in her hair. There are silken ribbons of amber and clementine spun together, and where the fine circlets of red curl against her neck, there is the slightest tinge of horizon-light. She is seated at a table, occupied with the mandalas of crumbs on its surface. Turquoise light twines around her fingers like thin cats, and she drinks from a pale cup as though it holds the elixir of life. Steam rises from the peach surface of her lips. She is a sleepy dragon, you think, smoking quietly- dangerous, but her scales rise and fall in calm ripples.

Whirr Pull the dust of sleep from your eyes to replace it

with the lined wetness of living.

Your limbs are thick and loose-jointed as you stretch,

looping your muscles back into their oiled grooves.

Yawning jaw creaks like a furnace-

shudder the rust away

and stir the embers beneath your tongue.

The wooden floor is cold, and the world outside

is heavy with the matte shimmer

of dew on fallen leaves.

Turn away from the window, ligaments warming

in the motion of a turned doorknob.

Shovel coal into the young fire with a silver spoon,

and smoke lisps from the chimney.

The engines clatter, then whirr, and your body now

moves with purpose, Whirr by ~Circe20

Bit like Summer Sometimes you wake up and the way the sun comes through the windows reminds you a little bit of summer. You open the door and where the dark siding of the house has absorbed sun, you can stand and be warm. You drink chai with not quite enough sugar and the earth is wet from the rain, but the sun shines on your face and a slow smile creeps across your lips because you feel peaceful holding yourself there in the sun. You know if there was someone sitting on the couch in the living room watching you, they would think "she is beautiful in the sunlight."

But you are alone and that's part of what makes it so special: that the house is empty and yoBit like Summer by ~Circe20

Opaline The air crackled beneath her feet as she landed, as though the sky was a pane of glass that had been recently broken. The last shards of atmosphere ground to dust beneath her boot, and her cloak settled like wings against her back. Kai gazed around this odd planet she had touched down upon. The soil was a faintly pulsating blue that glowed white against the imprint of her feet, and before her, a trail stretched on into a forest of cerulean trees. Closer to the heart of the wood, she knew, the air temperature would drop, the particles of water in the atmosphere moving slowly in a looping choreography that Kai could watch if she sharpened her vOpaline by ~Circe20

maybe getting my act together?

Art is not what I do. It's just not. I enjoy it occasionally, I LOVE looking at other people's work, but my own skill is very mediocre. It isn't something I spend a lot of time or energy on.

My true passion is writing. It's something that I can't not do. I write nearly every day, though I will probably only post my more polished stuff on here. [link] A fuller view of my work: past to present can be found on YWP, though those who do not live in my state will be unable to view the writing there.

So.. I think I'm going to try to actually post my work on here. Feedback is always appreciated. (My writing is something I am able to take criticism on constructively because I actually believe in myself as a writer. Not so much the case in other parts of my life, unfortunately. Working on it.)

This is more who I am, and I'm looking forward to sharing it a little.

Hope you guys enjoy reading it.
